I cannot believe the gorgeous weather we have had the past few days! Fall is probably my favorite season (besides winter…..because of course.. Christmas and family time!). Don’t get me wrong, Michigan has fantastic summers….but I am in love with cool weather…especially all the comfy cozy clothes that we get to wear as the days get cooler and the leaves begin to turn. I’m totally into sweater weather. Rocking flannel, boots, and jeans is probably my favorite go to gear when the weather starts changing.
One thing that I love doing is trying to make some summer clothes last into the fall. To me it just seems so ridiculous to have gorgeous clothes that I can only wear for 2-3 months out of the year. Not only do you get more wear out of your clothes….but it is awesome for your shopping budget. Lets see how super easy it is to transition that summer wardrobe with a couple cool weather touches.
My favorite summer date night outfit is a flowery blouse and a pair of distressed jeans (both of which I got from my most recent stitch fix box!). To get more wear out of my favorite floral top I love to pair it with a light fall jacket like a jean jacket or my army green jacket from J. Crew. For shoes for an outfit like this I like to pair it with cute booties like my lazer cut Crown Vintage ankle booties from DSW. I can’t forget jewelry, which I also like to try to carry into each season. I work in surgery so I can’t wear any jewelry for most of the days of the week, so I really like to dress up on the weekend. In the second outfit I chose my firewheel flower blossom earrings (from KME Designs) to compliment my floral top.
My mom has taught me everything I know about fashion…..she always tries to be dressed her best and isn’t afraid to try new styles. She loved the idea for this blog and wanted to add her favorite summer to fall transition. She picked her favorite navy striped dress from the Gap which she paired it with some strappy sandals by Thread Up from Target and her favorite summer bag by Dooney and Burke. To keep her favorite dress fresh for fall she decided to pair it with a navy blazer from Banana Republic (love the button details on that blazer), her favorite scarf, and her vintage Frye Boots. This outfit is perfect to wear to work or for going for shopping and coffee with the girls.
Once we started pairing our favorite outfits together we decided we wanted to take some of our KME favs and transition them to fall (keep your eyes open because KME Designs will be launching a closeout sale on our fall favorite clothes). We took our favorite mustard colored dress and each paired it with what we thought would be a great transition to fall. I chose to pair my dress with a cute scarf, strappy heels from Anthropologie, and a pair of KME Designs brown leaf shaped leather earrings. My mom actually make the dress look like a skirt by pulling a navy Today sweater over top of it (this is such a great idea make a dress more casual and create multiple new outfits from one item). To finish her outfit she accessorized it with a cute stripe bag from Kate Spade and cute white converse shoes.
The last outfit we put together we took a cute stripe shirt with lace detail and made it into a cute fall date night outfit by pairing it with a asymmetrical zip black jacket, ankle booties by Lucky Brand, and handmade wood earrings (color metallic charcoal).
I hope you all are feeling inspired for fall! Grab yourself a pumpkin beer or apple cider (spiked if you prefer ;)) and get into your closet and start putting together your summer and fall favs.
